About Turning Six

Some years call for a big birthday bash, and others are for going somewhere special as a family. For Toby's sixth birthday this year (November 4th) we decided on a family trip to Disneyland!

On the tram - ready for our big adventure.

One of the highlights for Toby was participating in the "Jedi Training Academy". He was chosen to be a padawan learner and taught a series of movements with the light saber. Then everything got really exciting when each child had a chance to fight Darth Vader or Darth Maul (not pictured). Toby fought Darth Vader bravely! In the second picture he is using "the force" to make the stormtrooper to the left fall back. Definitely a memorable experience for our little Jedi.

The force is strong in this one.

Toby is still a big fan of Peter Pan. Here he is enjoying the Peter Pan ride with Dad and Asher. Debbie and I were in the pirate ship ahead of them.

We all really enjoyed the Jungle Cruise!

It was a fun, fun day - also an exhausting day! The kids were asleep practically before we pulled out of the parking lot. Before we left Toby declared it the best birthday he has ever had, which is what a parent wants to hear.

The following day we did have cupcakes and ice-cream and Toby opened his presents. His favorite gift was the Nerf dart guns that we bought for him and Asher. As if having footballs and light sabers flying around the room isn't enough, now we have darts going all directions. This is my life.

Recently we were going around the table saying what we like about our family and Toby said he liked that we love him. He certainly got that right. He is very loved in this family and we have treasured watching him grow up and are excited to see him continue to change and learn.

Happy Birthday Toby!

Yes, Toby, we DO love you...LOTS and TONS! Glad you had such a fantastic birthday!! Susie, you are very brave to have all those flying objects around the house. I guess that is the role of a mother of boys. I'm sure your little girl will participate in some of those activities too!...but it will be different.
Love,
Mom/Mora/Nana

Those pictures are GREAT! What fun memories for Toby (and Asher too, of course).

I laughed out loud when I saw the picture of Toby with the Nerf gun! Peter -PETER!- has been talking about wanting to get Nerf guns for the boys... AND ONE FOR HIM, TOO!

Boys will be boys, I suppose.

Looks like you guys had a great time! TWO days of birthday! Lucky guy! Amy, I'm not surprised Peter wants a nerf gun... I remember getting shot at by them all the time when I was little, so consider yourself the target!

Ahhh! I love the pregnancy ticker you added! Now I don't have to ask all the time.

Oh man, I wish I could have been there to see Toby fight the Empire! Best padwan I know!

Nerf guns are the best. I still wish I had a bunch of them to have a huge nerf war...

I miss these boys. Tell them to stop growing up so quick!

What a great age to go to Disneyland! Happy Birthday Toby!!!! You are growing up and looks like both you and Asher really had fun at Disneyland! I didn't get to go until I was 29 years old and I thought it was so much fun! I never did get to fight the big guy though!
Looks like it was fun for the whole family!!!! Love, A. Dianne

Susanna, thanks for the little announcement and the week chart! We are SO looking forward to meeting her!

Toby!!! I just remembered! I forgot your "Now I Am Six" poem!!!!! from Winnie the Pooh

When I was 1, I had just begun.
When I was 2, I was nearly new.
When I was 3, I was hardly me.
When I was 4, I was not much more.
When I was 5, I was just alive.
But now I am 6, I'm as clever as clever.
So, I think I'll be 6 now forever and ever!

Love, A. Dianne
