Camas Antiques & Girl Time

Way back in June {Is it really the middle of September already?} our family took a fun road trip to Camas, WA.  What I didn't realize is that we should of rented a U-Haul for the trip back because that area has the most wonderful antique stores.  My favorite one is right in Camas and the prices were incredibly {jaw droppingly!} reasonable, even on fantastic pieces of furniture.  It was so much fun spending time with "the girls" - Mora, my wonderful MOA, Aunt Dianne, Sara and Grandma Bundy.  These are pictures taken with my iPhone.  I just rediscovered them and I had to share!

Mariposa Fishing Trip

We had to squeeze a little more fun in to the month of June... So over the weekend we took a road trip (5 1/2 hours) north to to the mountains of Mariposa, CA (near Yosemite National Park) to visit our friends Jeremiah and Julie. We arrived Friday.

On Saturday Jeremiah, Tim, and Toby took off on a fishing expedition - Toby's first time fishing. He had a great time and they came home with an amazing catch of six (none of them whoppers...but Toby didn't seem to mind!) fish.

The fishermen.

On Sunday morning we enjoyed some time playing in the Merced River

Asher did some of his own fishing, catching lots of imaginary fish.

That evening we were good and hungry for a hot-dog roast and s'mores!

YUM! Julie provided the delicious food. Toby and Asher were especially grateful for the marshmallows, much of which ended up on their faces!

Toby, who would LOVE to have a pet of his own, became very attached to Ebony...who for a secret reason all his own, he renamed Gwydeon. We have no idea where that name came from, but it was cute and made us smile every time.

We love it when our friends live in places that are fun to visit! (By the way, Jeremiah and Julie are expecting their first baby in August - YEAH!)

Say June

Every year of my life seems to go by faster, so I can't believe June is coming to an end. Here is an update on the happenings in our lives this month.

My close friend and college roommate, Flavia, was married on June 5th, so I flew to New York, New York for her wedding. Nakeischea, my other dear college friend, was also in the wedding, so we roomed together at a hotel near Times Square. I seriously had to pinch myself that I was actually getting to go to New York, sans kids, to hang-out with girlfriends for a long weekend!
Flavia and her man at the rehearsal dinner. Bob is a great guy! I'm so happy for Flavia.

The gorgeous bride!

Tim and the boys had a great time while I was gone, eating junk food, playing Star Wars, and probably watching too much TV. This sweet poster they made welcomed me back:

June 16th was Toby's graduation from Pre-K. The preschool had a short and sweet ceremony. Following are a few pictures of Toby after the event. He was pretty proud:

I did it!

We all know that boys tend to love getting dirty, but Tim and Toby took it to the extreme. On June 20th Tim and 4 of his buddies competed in a MUD RUN. His team did well and after running up mounds of dirt and trudging through plenty of muddy mudness, they came in second place. Following the competition, Toby was allowed to do a little mud-running himself, which he thought was awesome, especially when he was awarded a medal along with his dad.

At short notice, Tim ended up having to work on Father's Day, so we were glad that we had made watching him compete in the mud run the day before a family event. Toby and Asher will tell you that there is not better daddy than theirs, and I have to agree that he is a fantastic dad and very much loved in this family.

If you look closely you will notice the gap in Toby's teeth - he lost his first tooth this month.

Christmas 2008 - Packed with SNOW and FUN!!

Can't you just see all the excitement of Christmas in their eyes?

We had a fun adventure driving (two days each way!) to Camas, Washington to spend Christmas with Tim's parents, grandma, and aunt and uncle. What made it extra special was all the snow!!

Our New York Trip

Being back in Upstate New York was almost surreal for me! So beautiful and green. So many loved ones. And it holds my favorite place on earth: THE POND.

But first I had to survive the flight! Unfortunately Tim didn't get to join us on this trip, so I flew alone with the boys. It was a LONG day, with a few hectic moments, but the kids did great and God gave me grace in the little (but big) ways, like Asher taking a nap on the flight and Toby entertaining himself splendidly.

We started the fun by spending a few days with my college friend Jamie and her family in Ellicotville, NY. Watching our offspring play together was so special! Jamie has a fun home well equipped for active children. I enjoyed getting to know Jamie's husband Chris better and her two boys, Sam and Ben, were delightful. The boys played in the rocks, sprayed the hose, discovered a (harmless) snake, picked (and promptly ate) blueberries, played ball, ran around and were basically "all boy". One of the highlights for Toby was seeing the herd of buffalo that graze at a ranch up the road from Jamie's home!

Next we were off to Castile, NY! To see my Grandma DeGolyer, my very loved aunts and uncles, my cousins, and my cousin's children, including some little cuties I had never met before was WONDERFUL. And I couldn't hold back the tears when I saw Daniel and Giovy and my two beautiful nieces, Mia and Nai who arrived from Florida for the reunion. My family rented a six-bedroom farm just minutes from the family farm and pond. Being all together again was awesome.

It was a busy, but very special and fun time! Especially for Toby, ever the enthusiastic one, every day was an adventure. Playing with cousins upon cousins he didn't know he had, digging and splashing in the pond, riding the ferris wheel at the county fair, watching cows being milked, climbing up in to enormous tractors, picking sweet corn, seeing waterfalls at Letchworth State Park, playing miniature golf followed by a large ice-cream cone...he never wanted the trip to end and was a bit bummed to be back. Asher loved his baby cousin Nai, and also had a good time, but he was happiest when he was finally back to his dad and his home. What two different personalities these boys have!

Cousins! Asher, Nai, Tobiah, and Mia at Letchworth State Park.

Just missing Tim.

My Uncle Willard - Toby's new hero - and his oh-so-cool tractors. Toby was invited to help cut the hay!

Minnesota

We are back after spending two weeks in rural Minnesota! We saw a lot of open space, tractors, friends, and family.

HIGHLIGHTS:
Getting to spend a week at the Gardeens, hanging out with my friend Natasha and her kids. Tim left part of the time to attend his brother David's graduation from the Naval Academy in Annapolis (Congratulations David!!), but was back to spend Memorial Day weekend with us.

Tobiah, especially, had the time of his life playing in the Gardeen's huge back yard and tree fort with Isaiah, Elijah, and Samuel. Anna, the youngest, was Asher's favorite. Both boys also loved jumping on the trampoline!
Tash and I have been close friends since the 6th grade!

The second week we stayed at a beautiful house on Green Lake with lots of very loved relatives on Tim's side of the family, all gathered to take part in David and Kristi's wedding. It was a beautiful wedding and the ring bearers (Tobiah and his cousin Liam) were especially cute. Welcome to the family Kristi!! We are so happy for you two.
